🔒 Private Chat

Private Chat is your personal AI assistant located on the left side of Constella. Unlike Stella Chat which works with your notes, Private Chat is a general-purpose AI assistant for any task or question.

Opening Private Chat​

Click the Private Chat icon on the left sidebar to open the chat interface.

About the AI Model​

Private Chat uses Qwen3, a powerful language model that can help you with a wide variety of tasks including:

  • General questions and information
  • Writing and editing assistance
  • Problem-solving and brainstorming
  • Code help and technical questions
  • Creative tasks and ideation
  • And much more

Using Private Chat​

Simply type your question or request into the chat interface and the AI will respond. You can have natural conversations and ask follow-up questions.

Asking AI to Search Your Notes​

One of the powerful features of Private Chat is the ability to ask the AI to search through your Constella notes. To do this, use the {'{{ }}'} syntax in your message:

{'{{ your search query #optional-hashtags }}'}

For example:

  • "What did I write about {{ project planning #work }}?"
  • "Summarize my notes on {{ machine learning }}?"
  • "Find insights from {{ meetings #team }}?"

The AI will search your notes using the query inside the curly braces and use that information to respond to your question.

Managing Chat Performance​

If you notice the AI responding slowly, try clearing your chat history. Long conversation histories can impact response times.

To clear your chat history:

  1. Look for the clear history in the top right
  2. This will start a fresh conversation and often improve response speed

Privacy​

Constella's private chat runs 100% locally, ensuring the most amount of privacy possible as nothing leaves your device.

If you have cloud syncing enabled, there are secure tunnels enabled to connect notes across your devices.
